Sacraments Some information may be specific to Logan County Catholics. Baptism Baptism The Sacrament of Baptism is the beginning of our life in Christ. Baptism heals the wound of original sin by giving sanctifying grace, making us heirs to heaven. All sin is washed away. The Holy Spirit becomes our indwelling guest. We become, in a very real way, the adopted sons and daughters of God, and members of His family, the Church. For more information on Baptism please contact the parish office. Baptism classes are required for all first-time parents, and are offered several times per year. Upcoming classes are announced in the bulletin. Non-baptized adults who desire baptism should enroll in RCIA. Eucharist The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” As Catholics, we believe that the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ are really and truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Receiving Communion is the closest we can come to heaven while still living on this earth. Preparation for First Holy Communion usually takes place within the context of our children's faith formation program , or in the case of an adult, through the RCIA program . The Catholic Church’s understanding of the Eucharist permits only practicing Catholics in the state of grace to receive Holy Communion. Those who will not be receiving the Eucharist are invited to come forward with their arms crossed over their chest to receive a blessing, or may remain in the pews and join the congregation in prayer.. See Mass Schedules. Reconciliation The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession/Penance) is a refuge of mercy for all sins committed after Baptism. Confession restores us to the state of grace if we have wandered due to mortal sin, and restores the beauty of our souls when we have disfigured it by venial sin. Receiving this sacrament regularly (recommended once a month) is an integral part of growing in holiness and overcoming faults. See Confession Times. A guide to the Sacrament of Confession Confirmation The Sacrament of Confirmation grants us a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit to strengthen us against obstacles and difficulties in our spiritual life, and to fill us the desire to bring others to Christ. Confirmation, along with Baptism and the Eucharist, is one of the Sacraments of Initiation. Our parishes hold Confirmation every other year, for those in the 7th and 8th grade . Baptized adults who seek full union with the Catholic Church are typically confirmed at the Easter Vigil . Matrimony The Sacrament of Matrimony unites a man and a woman in a love that is exclusive, life-long, and open to the great gift of life. Married couples are a beautiful witness to the world of the love that Jesus the Bridegroom has for His Bride, the Church. One who is Catholic must marry within the guidelines set forth by the Church. Please contact the parish office a minimum of 6 months before your planned wedding date. Anointing of the Sick When faced with a serious illness, the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick brings us comfort and consolation, strength to endure our trials, grace to offer our suffering in union with the Passion of Our Lord, and the healing we most need. This Sacrament is available anytime by contacting the parish office. If a loved one is ill and in need of a priest, call the sacramental emergency line any time, day or night: 937-407-1331 . Holy Orders All the baptized have been given a vocation to a particular state in life, and called to great holiness. The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the sacrament that gives the Church deacons, priests, and bishops. This Sacrament configures a man to the person of Jesus Christ, giving him particular gifts to serve the people of God through the administration of the Sacraments. If you have questions or feel you might be called to the diaconate, priesthood, or consecrated life, please contact one of our priests. To discuss or learn more about a vocation and discernment to the priesthood, check out Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s Vocations to the Priesthood. To learn more about discernment of consecrated life , see the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Office of Consecrated Life.

- About | Mary Queen of Angels Family of Parishes
About Mary, Queen of Angels Family of Parishes is the Northeast Region #1 (NE-1) of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Ohio. Our Vision Statement is "Following in the footsteps of Our Lady, we will welcome and adore the abiding presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and bring Him with joy to those we encounter." From Father Shawn Landenwitch, Pastor; "I personally think 'Mary, Queen of Angels' is a beautiful title that reveals the high honor in which Mary is held, even in Heaven. As one parishioner pointed out, I had an image of Our Lady of the Angels on my ordination card. We are blessed to have such a powerful intercessor for our family of parishes!"
