  • EPIPHANY CHALK BLESSING

Blessing one's home on Epiphany is a wonderful way to claim your house for Jesus Christ, and to consecrate the whole year to the service of Our Lord. Using the blessed chalk, mark the lintel of your front door (or front porch step) as follows: 20 + C + M + B + 25 Say: " The Three Wise Men, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar, followed the star of God's Son who became human two thousand and twenty-five years ago. May Christ bless our home and remain with us throughout the new year. Amen. Visit, O blessed Lord, this home with the gladness of Your presence. Bless all who live or visit here with the gift of Your love; and grant that we may manifest Your love to each other and to all whose lives we touch. May we grow in grace and in the knowledge and love of You. Guide, comfort, and strengthen us in peace, O Jesus Christ, now and forever. Amen. " Blessed chalk, along with instructions, are available in the back of church.

  • Rorate Mass at Saint Mary (Urbana) 12/14

Rorate Mass Saint Mary (Urbana) Saturday, December 14, 6:45 a.m. Confessions available after Mass Breakfast will be served by the Knights of Columbus after Mass in St. Joseph Hall The Rorate Mass is lit only by candlelight. Because it is a votive Mass in Mary’s honor, white vestments are worn instead of Advent violet. In the dimly lit setting, the Priest and faithful prepare to honor the Light of the world, Who is soon to be born, and offer praise to God for the gift of Our Lady. As the Mass proceeds and sunrise approaches, the church becomes progressively brighter, illumined by the sun as our Faith is illumined by Christ. The readings and prayers of the Mass foretell the prophecy of the Virgin who would bear a Son called Emmanuel, and call on all to raise the gates of their hearts and their societies to let Christ the King enter; asking for the grace to receive eternal life by the merits of the Incarnation and saving Resurrection of Our Lord.
