A note from Father Shawn on upcoming sabbatical

Priests of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati are eligible to request a sabbatical every 10 years. A sabbatical gives a priest time to recharge from the demands of ministry and helps a priest maintain energy and zeal in his ministry over the course of decades of service.

A priest has flexibility in how he designs his sabbatical. He could take a course, travel to Rome or some other pilgrimage site, or do something else that will be helpful to him.

After a delay of several years due to Covid, the Archdiocese is now granting sabbaticals again. They granted me a one month sabbatical, which I will take in February of 2025. Our Parochial Vicar, Father Jarred Kohn, will take over the administration while I am away. Father Greg Konerman will assist with weekend Masses. I am looking forward to the opportunity to recharge, especially with the demands of implementing Beacons of Light in recent years. I also look forward to returning to the parish with renewed energy to serve the Lord as pastor of our family of parishes!

Be assured of my prayers for you and your families!

God bless,

Father Shawn Landenwitch
